First Day at Sixth Form Experience
Hey,
It's me Caitlin. Today was my first day at Sixth Form College, which I kind of enjoyed. When I first got there I was taken to my form room, in which we were given our timetables, a map of the school and just made to introduce ourselves to each other. My tutor explained the school system and how it worked, with the rules etc. I was lucky enough to have some people from my old school in with me, so I sat with them to be comfortable in the new classroom.
We had a break, in which they kindly gave us tokens for free food, and then after we had to go to either a lesson if we had one scheduled, or a induction session. I had a free period at this time, so I went to a session called 'Study Skills' which is where we were told good ways to keep on top of A-Level work and so forth. I found it alright, but it just dragged a bit. At this college each lesson is an hour and a half, so you can imagine how long a study skills session could last for.
After study skills, I had my first proper lesson - English Literature. I loved it. The teacher was so friendly. The tasks were fun, and I got to know some people because of the small population in the class. My teacher wanted us to write her an 'Introduction to me' letter explaining ourselves, and why we wanted to study the subject. After the warm-up, we started discussing our first book of 8 and we had to role-play what we think the characters were thinking and feeling. I didn't like that bit so much.
Next was lunch, which was just as chaotic as break but I had nice food so I didn't mind. Then for the final period we had another tutor lesson, which involved going to an assembly with our Head of Hall, which was particularly interesting.
Getting home involved a crowded bus stop, and bus. However, I can certainly say that I enjoyed my first day.
Signing Off,
